Bubble rising velocity and bubble size distribution in columns at high pressure and temperature: From lab scale experiments to design parameters

چکیده

The design of bubble column for industrial applications is well known under near ambient pressure and temperature conditions, contrary to high conditions. Accurate data on the evolution behaviour bubbles proposed as a basis evaluation surface area developed in further such reactor. Two columns are used experiments: small (8 mL) with total visualisation flow, bigger one (1 L), necessary scale up. Main results show that influence significant size distribution must be characterized considered allow determination two correlations: diameter other rise velocity, considering different parameters, especially superficial gas velocity saturated These correlations determine mass transfer at

Integration of Particle to Bubble Adhesion Model in Design and Scale-Up of Slurry Bubble Columns

In slurry bubble column reactors, catalyst particles may adhere to gas bubbles. Thus, mass transfer limited reactions can be significantly improved either by increasing G-L mass transfer coefficient kL or specific surface area a. The scope of this work is to study the influence of model parameters on coalescence and G-L mass transfer, in order to develop new rules for design and scale-up of slu...

Determination of Bubble Size Distributions in Bubble Columns Using LDA

A new method is developed for the determination of bubble size distributions from experimental laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) data through simultaneous measurement of only two orthogonal velocity components and the intermittent time gaps arising out of bubbles passing through the measurement point. An experimentally verifiable assumption of axisymmetry allowed the calculation of the three-dimen...

Interactional effects of bubble size, particle size, and collector dosage on bubble loading in column flotation

The success of flotation operation depends upon the thriving interactions of chemical and physical variables. In this work, the effects of particle size, bubble size, and collector dosage on the bubble loading in a continuous flotation column were investigated. In other words, this work was mainly concerned with the evaluation of the true flotation response to the changes in the operating varia...

Bubble columns for condensation at high concentrations of non condensable gas: Heat transfer model and experiments

Carrier gas based thermodynamic cycles are common in water desalination applications. These cycles often require condensation of water vapor out of the carrier gas stream. Since the carrier gas is most likely a non-condensable gas present in very high concentrations (60-95%), a large additional resistance to heat transfer is present. We propose to reduce the aforementioned thermal resistance by...

Study of Parameters Affecting Separation Bubble Size in High Speed Flows using k-ω Turbulence Model

Shock waves generated at different parts of vehicle interact with the boundary layer over the surface at high Mach flows. The adverse pressure gradient across strong shock wave causes the flow to separate and peak loads are generated at separation and reattachment points. The size of separation bubble in the shock boundary layer interaction flows depends on various parameters. Reynolds-averaged...
